How fast are Nigeria's top web studios? We tested Gemini's picks.

On 2 October 2026 we asked Google Gemini to name the top web development studios in Nigeria. It named ten. We ran the home pages of eight of them through Google's own PageSpeed Insights on its mobile setting — the way a Nigerian customer on a mid-range phone meets it. The median studio took 9.9 seconds to show its main content. None of the eight met Google's 2.5-second "good" threshold; 6 took longer than 4 seconds, Google's "poor" line.

The results
Sorted by PageSpeed performance score. Colours follow Google's thresholds: green is good, yellow needs improvement, red is poor. Two of the ten studios Gemini named are left out of this table for commercial reasons.

LCP: Largest Contentful Paint, when the main content appears. FCP: First Contentful Paint, when anything appears. TBT: Total Blocking Time, how long the page is frozen to taps. CLS: Cumulative Layout Shift, how much the page jumps while loading. Weight: total transfer, shown where PageSpeed flagged the page as an "enormous network payload"; — means it was not flagged. Agentic: PageSpeed's Agentic Browsing audits passed — how readable the page is to AI agents.
What the numbers mean for a business owner
Every one of these studios is well enough known to be recommended by an AI assistant as one of the best in the country. They build sites that their clients' customers will open on a phone, on mobile data. If a studio's own home page needs 9.9 seconds to show its main content in that setting, it is worth asking what speed it will deliver for yours.
Three questions to ask any web studio before you pay a deposit:
- What does your own home page score on mobile at pagespeed.web.dev? Run it together, on your phone, in the meeting.
- What will my home page weigh? A fast business page is a few hundred kilobytes. 5 of these eight home pages weigh more than 6MB — a real cost in data to every visitor on a prepaid bundle.
- Will Google, ChatGPT and Gemini be able to read every page? Ask whether the content is in the HTML or assembled by JavaScript after it loads.
Method
- Who: the studios Google Gemini named on 2 October 2026 when asked for the top web development studios in Nigeria, numbered in the order it gave, plus 234andthat.com. We did not choose the list. Two of the ten studios Gemini named are left out of this table for commercial reasons.
- What: each studio's home page, at the address its site serves.
- How: Google PageSpeed Insights, mobile — Lighthouse 13.5.0, Emulated Moto G Power, Slow 4G throttling, HeadlessChromium 153. One run per site; the studios were tested on 2 October 2026.
- Limits: lab data, one run, one day. Real visitors' experience (Google's field data) differs, and scores move a few points between runs. Home pages only; inner pages may be faster or slower.

Which Nigerian web studio has the fastest website?
Of the eight studios tested from Google Gemini's list of Nigeria's best on 2 October 2026, the fastest home page on PageSpeed Insights' mobile test was BeeTcore (beetcore.com), showing its main content in 3.2 seconds. 234andthat.com, which published this test, measured 1.1 seconds with a performance score of 100.
What is a good page load time for a website in Nigeria?
Google rates Largest Contentful Paint — when the main content appears — as good at 2.5 seconds or less and poor above 4 seconds. Most Nigerian visitors arrive on mobile data, so test on PageSpeed Insights' mobile setting or on a real phone, not on office broadband.
How was this benchmark measured?
Each studio's home page was tested with Google PageSpeed Insights (Lighthouse 13.5.0) on its mobile setting: an emulated Moto G Power on throttled slow 4G. Anyone can repeat the test free at pagespeed.web.dev. Scores move a few points between runs.
